June 2024 - Flourish Regional Food System Framework

HLC, in partnership with food systems expert Vanessa Clarkson, has led the development of Flourish, a Loddon Campaspe Regional Food System Framework.

Flourish is a guiding document that will support place-based food system action to create a vibrant and sustainable regional food system.

This session provided an overview of food systems, discuss Flourish’s five Objectives, and provide insights into the types of local actions that can contribute to a thriving regional food system.

Dr Katherine Livingstone is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and Senior Research Fellow in the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University. Katherine leads a research program in dietary patterns, cardiometabolic health and personalised nutrition.

April 2024 - Inclusion

Heather Grenon, Projects Liaison Officer at City of Greater Bendigo and her team have focused on inclusion from design through to implementation of the built environment at Ewing Park. In collaboration with a variety of stakeholders and community, Heather and her team have sought to break down barriers and work effectively across many disciplines. Ewing Park is a multi-purpose community and sporting precinct that supports recreation and participation for people of all ages and genders.

March 2024 - Gender Equity

Dr Niki Vincent commenced as Victoria’s first Public Sector Gender Equality Commissioner in 2020. She oversees the implementation of the Gender Equality Act 2020 and plays a key leadership role in promoting gender equality in the Victorian community and workplaces.

February 2024 - Environment, Climate and Health

Ian McBurney presented on the links between climate change and health, on organisational change and on what influence we have, to enable change around us. He filled us in on the Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration and on how closely “emissions reduction” and health overlap.
